Bylaws and permits

Permits are required for various activities within the town. Please ensure you are aware of the requirements, complete the application forms and receive the permits before starting any of the activities outlined below.


The applicable forms are provided below for viewing, downloading or printing.


Building permit:


You are required to make application at the Town Office for a building permit to erect, place, construct, alter, repair, renovate or reconstruct any building in the Town of Norquay.  

See Building Permit Application (Form A) and Building Bylaw No. 224.


Permit to move or demolish a building:


You are required to make application at the Town Office for a permit to move or demolish a building in town limits.

Removal of buildings and clean-up of site:


Before you remove a building from the town you must: 

  • Obtain a demolition/moving permit.  
  • Pay all taxes owing to date of removal. 
  • Pay all water and sewer accounts outstanding to date of removal. 
  • Pay a $3,000 deposit which will be held until such time as the building is removed or demolished and the site put in a condition that is satisfactory to Council.

Landfill permits:


Landfill permits are required in order to dump garbage at the landfill site. Only residents of Norquay are allowed access to the landfill site. Permits are only available at the town office.

Truck and bus traffic: 


All trucks and buses entering the town of Norquay are restricted to certain streets unless a permit has been issued by Council. Contact the town office to request permit.

Monument permit, Norquay Cemetery:


No person shall erect, clean, repair, or remove a monument or marker without having obtained a permit and paying the required fee of $30.
