The NICE (Norquay Involved Community Effort) Centre is a place where seniors meet each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 1 pm to 4 pm. Lunch is voluntarily served by one of the members and is charged for as a fund raiser. Folks socialize, play cards, play pool, play games, put puzzles together or just read.
The last Thursday of the month a sing song is held as well as a small program to recognize all those members who had a birthday or anniversary that month.
The Centre has approximately 50 members. A general membership meeting is held once a month. The NICE Centre is affiliated with Sask Seniors and National Seniors. The cost to be a member is $8 if the member serves lunch once a month. Those who do not serve lunch pay a membership of $45.
The Centre gives a $100 scholarship to a deserving grade 12 student each year.
The nurse practitioner and the home care nurses are there one day a month.
The Centre is rented out for showers, birthdays, suppers, bake sales, courses, meetings etc. at a charge. To rent the NICE Centre call Mary Dyck at 306-594-2543 or Joey Jacquemart at 306-594-2256. A caretaker cleans the building once a week.
